Gaelynn Lea’s work won NPR Music's 2016 Tiny Desk Contest, a competition drawing submissions of original songs from more than 6000 musicians across the country. She uses her music as a platform to advocate for disabled people and to promote positive social change.

Giddens is the co-founder of the GRAMMY award-winning string band Carolina Chocolate Drops, in which she also plays banjo and fiddle. Rhiannon Giddens is a 2017 recipient of the MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant.

The Fisk Jubilee Singers are vocal artists and students at Fisk University in Nashville, TN., who sing and travel worldwide. The original Fisk Jubilee Singers introduced ‘slave songs’ to the world in 1871 and were instrumental in preserving this unique American musical tradition known today as Negro spirituals.
