Support the Center Challenge Grant: Help us achieve our goal!

Dear Members & Supporters,

Dan Rather, a long time friend and very generous supporter of the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center has issued a $50,000 challenge grant for the Center! We are enormously honored and grateful, particularly since it comes at a time when we, like many nonprofits, are more than ever in need of operational funds. Our raising $50,000 from our members will bring in Dan’s $50,000 and provide $100,000 to help carry us through this uncertain period. Much of our activity has been cancelled since March due to the Corona virus, and we have no assurance that the situation will change in the foreseeable future. Foundations and granting entities on which operations like ours depend are in a similarly difficult situation and we cannot count on their support.

While we have been unable to follow our normal schedule, we are adapting as best we can. Please view our virtual visual art exhibition, Cynthia Perryman “Lambs to Lilies” , opened on Friday, July 10 and continuing, virtually, through September 12. We hope you have enjoyed our virtual Performing Arts at Home and Museum Highlights series. We have received positive feedback for both – maybe they will become permanent programs! We are working diligently to find other ways to serve our community while adapting to the restrictions the pandemic places on us. In 2021 we hope to host a celebration of the building’s 125th anniversary, including an exhibition covering the many activities, performances, and exhibitions hosted over the years. Your contributions will help us ensure this celebration and other future programs will happen – virtual or otherwise.

In this difficult time, your staff and board pledge to you that we will exercise the most rigorous care in planning and handling our finances, protecting our precious endowment, and making the best possible use of your contributions. Only by the most careful management of our assets now can we ensure the future of the center.
