MMCC Welcomes New Board Members and Awards Volunteer of the Year!

On Monday, July 19th 2021, MMCC Annual Board Meeting was held in the auditorium. The meeting was attended by current & past board of trustees, staff, MMCC members, volunteers, and community members. During the meeting Betsy Morehouse announced the executive board for the 2021-2022 year; David Burbach, Chair, Lee Abney, Vice-Chair, Sally Hoge, Secretary, and Steve Briley, Treasurer.

The Governance Committee announced 5 new trustees for terms beginning in July, 2021:

Kathryn Cardwell - has served on several non profit boards, including the Madison Artist Guild, First United Methodist Church, and the College/Career Academy Board. Married to Joe Cardwell, mother of 2 grown children. Very successful volunteer fundraiser for the Morgan County School System.

Maghan Holmes - former Cultural Center trustee; former chair of the Center’s Student Programming Committee; active volunteer at MMCC functions; teacher at Morgan County Elementary School; has performed twice as soloist at the Center’s July 3rd concert.

Eric Joyce - member of the Madison City Council; member of the Board of Directors of Morgan County Family Connection; past member of Madison Historic Preservation Commission, MMCC volunteer; an arts supporter with his partner Judi Perazzo; retired hotel food and beverage director in Napa, California.

Brad Rice - former trustee and Chair of the Board at the Cultural Center; member of the Governance Committee and the History & Humanities Committee; has served on the boards of Kiwanis and United Way; Vice-Chair of the Historic Preservation Commission; retired college professor and administrator; author; he and his wife Deneice have 2 children, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandchild.

Jamie Sarkin von Hanstein - served on theCenter’s Membership Committee; works as a speech and language pathologist with the Morgan County Schools; married to Philipp von Hanstein; two grown daughters - Madison and Morgan.

Chris Lambert, speaking for the Governance Committee extended a very special thank you to: Annie Hunt Burris, Judy Gilbert, Betsy Morehouse, and Ben Whidby, who are rotation off the Cultural Center’s Board this year. Lambert went on to say; “Each served the Center with dedication, energy, and enthusiasm. We are very grateful to them for all they have done!”

With great honor and appreciation, MMCC presented Volunteer of the Year Award to the much deserving, Patsy Harris! Patsy went above and beyond, stepping up to help us create the successful virtual series “Museum Highlights.” Patsy’s professionalism, expertise, and time dedicated to this project was crucial to its success! Thank you Patsy and congratulations on this much deserved award!
