THE COW SHOW 2011

Presenting Sponsor: Cox Family Fund

THE COW SHOW 2011 marks the return of this bovine-inspired exhibition to the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center 21 years after making its debut in 1990.  The aim of the show remains the same: inspire interest among the selected artists to create new works specifically for the show, based on the humble, yet majestic animal which has served mankind’s needs for countless centuries – the cow.  As Jackson Cheatham, curator, explains, “This work would not exist without the show itself”, as the artists featured were not selected for their familiarity with cows as subject for art, but rather their unconditional willingness to create, no matter the subject or reason. The exhibition features pieces collected from over 25 visual artists who have come together to produce the material for this year’s revival of THE COW SHOW.

Opening Reception: August 12, 2011 from 6:00 – 8:00 PM
