Mapping the Present Just Went By:
A Portrait of the African-American
Community in Morgan County, GA

Madison-Morgan Cultural Center (434 S. Main
Street) invites you to discover another side of Morgan County through a unique
collaborative artist’s project that combines stories, archival documents,
photographs and sculpture by Atlanta artist, Lynn Marshall-Linnemeier.
Artist talk at 6:00 pm.
Please join the Morgan County African-American Museum at
156 Academy Street for an exhibition curated by Lynn Marshall-Linnemeier, which
celebrates Madison’s own unique artists Bennie Andrews, Freddie Styles,
and Eugene Swain. The exhibition will also feature selected works by participants
of the Boys and Girls Club’s Remembering Morgan County workshops facilitated
by Marshall-Linnemeier.

Morgan County African American Museum
Through
a community residency visual artist, Lynn Marshall-Linnemeier has unearthed
archival resources believed not to exist documenting the history of the African
American community in Madison and Morgan County, Georgia. This
event will celebrate the findings of over 200 names and details of enslaved
African Americans from this region. Audiences will be encouraged to remember
the names of their own ancestors, recommitting to the preservation of
their stories for future generations.
